Hello - I've found a new 2006 4 stroke 90 HP Yamaha for a good deal but want to know what controls (side mount) would be compatible with this motor. They must be able to do tilt & trim. The motor has multi-port precision fuel injection, four independent fuel injectors, DOHC, & 4 valves per cylinder. Also, I've heard that Yamaha makes a nice, all-in-one digital guage that tells you RPM, Tilt, Trim, Temp, etc...

If someone could also tell me what model of this guage would work with my motor that would be great. Dealer wants $565 for new controls and I think I can probably find them for a lot less on craigslist or ebay. Thanks for your time and valuable knowledge!

I have an omc vertical mount control box running my Yamaha. theoretically any box would work, with a little splicing. 3 wires for trim, cables for shift and throttle, and a few for the key. The Yamaha digital gauge is a little pricey if you ask me. I have one on one boat and analog gauges on the other and I am considering converting back to all analog. The only real benefit of the Yamaha gauge is less clutter, but in the sun and surf it sometimes is very difficult to read.

I think you may take the Yamaha 703 Controls. Your looking for a 10-pin wiring harness which would work the tilt & trim not the 7-pin 703. Your right about finding it cheaper on craigslist or ebay. I bought mine in good cond. w/12' cabels and 10-pin harness, key, kill switch-pull for 115 on craigslist. Even new controls run around $265-300 without cables.
