Component ID '88 40 hp Evinrude

There's an electrical component that is fastened to the back of the fuel pump on this engine. It has three conductors heading into the engine wire harness. I don't have a service manual for this engine: it's not mine, I'm working for free, and the people who own the boat don't have that proverbial pot. Help me, help them.

looks like the vro fuel pump, that mixes the fuel and oil. the wires are for the alarm sending unit.

yep yep, the vro is the item in question, and that on has seen better days. There is a way to put an aftermarket fuel pump one these engines and premix the fuel:eek:il. Let us know if you want the details

I am interested, even though it's already been done to this engine. Please check out a thread I just started at http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?p=1636572#post1636572 I could sure use some advice!
