Are these things worth anything? There're very inexpensive...I'm leary about them. I can't see how a plastic prop would perform on higher horsepower engines. Won't these things be constantly bending and warping as you go?

Any experiences on these...good or bad?

Re: Composite props

I have one for a spare. I also used it fo sking when there were 7 people in the boat. It is a 19 pitch. I think if you had one in you hands you wouldn't think they bend or warp under load. They are pretty sturdy. The web site www.comprop.com has alot of info on these props.

my boat only has 190hp. They are rated up to 220 I think. I like the one I have. It is good insurance.

Re: Composite props

I had one of the Pro Pulse. At first I thought it was a great thing being able to replace those individual blades...until I found out how fragile they really are. The leading edge gets chewed up badly after just one outing, and last summer on a lake I had to jump down in the water to find two of the 4 blades had literally cracked in half somehow. I didn't hit anything.

Another thing, they are very flexible. Top end on my 19' bowrider was only 42mph with the PP, but switching to a 21 stainless got me up to 53.

Just use it as a backup.

Local lake patrol started using them.Worked fine until the first rock when the blade broke off it went up and broke off a nice chunk of the anti ventilation plate, and had one hell of a vibration all the way back to the marina.I would rather risk the gear/propshaft damage from hitting a rock with an aluminum prop, than risk gearcase replacement because of broken pieces and bearings that are now wasted.
