Great site, glad i found it.

I just got a 2007 alum. triton 1650 w/tiller 25hp. 4 stroke merc. I run mainly small rivers and creeks with stumps/logs,skinny water. The stock alum. prop is already showing some wear, small dings.

Has the comp. technology improved to the point of any kind of close comparison to ss? I know it's got be better than alum.

I've also been hearing i could damage my lower unit by running ss.

I did a search on here and found a little info. but not alot.

I've done some research on Piranha composite props and found it interesting.

Thanks

Re: composite vs. ss

Hi there, we run a Piranha composite prop on our stern drive,
We have already hit a log and damaged the blades, no damage to the stern drive, thank god, it cost us $100 to replace all 4 blades, instead of $1000 for a lower unit.
Took 2 minutes to change blades and we where away again.
Some people like then and some people don't.

We like them allot.
You can change pitch's in about 2 minutes, with spare blades.
