compresion after rebuild

today i checked the compresion for the first time on e freshly rebuild 115 v4 1990.<br />on the starboard side the comp was 120 and 125<br />on the portside the comp was 110 and 115<br /><br />i didnt rub the engine because i stil have to rebuild the carbs.<br /><br />will the comp get more even after break in ?<br />or do i have a small problem?

Compression directly after a rebuild, before the engine is broken in is really meaningless. When the new piston rings seat your compression will go up and even out.<br />It's nice to watch your compression go up while breaking the engine in though. :)

Make sure you have a matching set of heads. The numbers are 6 digits with the port head being one numder lower.<br /><br />IE; port 345678 matches starboard 345679. The numbers are found in a small circle near the top of each head.

yes i only have to put the carbs back on and she should fire up.<br />but i'm gonna take my time with rebuiding the carbs because i suspect the lower carb from running lean. <br />hophely next week i will fire her up.<br />just a little woried about the timing.
