Compression Issues on 74' Merc 115

Cylinder 6 is not getting any compression after testing. <br /><br />While running the engine in the water things seem normal, but then at random times the RPM's will dramatically fall really low. The engine never dies but i might go from 5k rpm to under 1k. I have to pull back to nuetral, then give it throttle again and things will seem normal for awhile, but then the same thing occurs. Sometimes, even before i pull back to nuetral it seems the engine returns to the rpm's it was at before the slowdown.<br /><br />Any ideas of what might be causing this would be appreciated.

might try to decarb the motor... may get lucky<br />and it's just a stuck ring. otherwise it's a<br />complete overhaul.<br />good luck,<br />M.Y.
