I am restoring a '76 Johnson 75hp outboard and have it up and running but the cylinder compression is only in the high 90's. I think it's a good sign that they are all within a couple pounds of each other but I can't find the specs in the repair manual.
does anyone have the factory compression rating for my model 75elr76D out there or something similar?
I'm also not getting spark from cylinder 1. Can this be due to a bad stator even with the other two firing?
First time posting on the site but have used it with success in the past.
Thank you for your time

A good one would run about 140 PSI on my tester.----And yes it reads properly.------So test with another gauge or remove the cylinder head for inspection.----Head gasket is cheaper than a gauge.
