OK, I'm going to ask a question that many may take for granted, & may seem dumb.

What is the proper method of checking compression on a 2 stroke outboard. By this I mean how many times do you pull the starter rope to get a reading on say a 10hp? Sure you can pull it a dozen times & the compression may look good, but it would seem that this would not give an accurate reading for a 2 stroke. As it has to fire on each stroke. I was under the impression that no more than 2 pulls, & using the same speed & force on each cylinder. 2 pulls usually equals about 2 complete revolutions, or the piston coming up to fire twice. Any of you experienced mechanics out there that can help?
