I have just bought a Grady 27 with twin 200 Yamahas. The boat and motors have 650 hrs.The dealer is going to do a compression test on Wednesday.
What can I expect to see as a safe number for this test?
I'm new to power boating, and any help will be most appreciated.

Re: Compression

hello
there really are no set numbers
the numbers should be within 10 psi bank to bank on both engines. its normal to have a 10 psi spead from top to bottom. make your comparisons from bank to bank. make sure the oil system has been maintained.
especially the remote oil tank filters. some grady's with remote deck fills are a beastie to get to. the only other issue is the engine main harnesses liked to fail if the engines get swamped with seawater much. other than that hire your own surveyor to asses the boat. dont rely on the sellers mechanics
good luck and keep posting
