I just bought a boat with a 140 Evinrude 1978, the compression is around 105-108 on 3 cylinders and113 on the other one. It sounds and runs strong was just wondering if this is normal compression for this old a horse? Thanks Chris
The engine is fine. That much variation between cylinders is acceptable. You may want to decarb (remove carbon deposits) though. This might raise compression a bit and even things out. Decarb is described in many links. Just search on "Decarb"
