I moved my computer with DSL connection from one room to another - a distance of less than 50'. To avoid the hassle of crawling around the attic pulling new wire I went wireless. The performance was terrible. In addition to dropping connection every so often the response time went to - - well you know where.

So I called Bell South to get a price on moving the connection. I ended up being on the phone for over an hour and a half as they kept switching me from one person to another. I ended up speaking to six different people. And you guessed it - - the first two or three were in India and the last was in the Philippines. In addition to the language problems they could not seem to understand my rather simple question - "How much would it cost me for them to move my DSL connection from one room to another." I don't fault the people I talked to as they are only trying to make a living.

While companies think they are saving money by moving services off shore they fail to consider the off-setting costs both in time (1 1/2 hours of their staff time to answer one question) and customer service to me the guy who sends them the monthly check.

ARRRRGGGGGHHHHHhhhhh!!

Now I feel better.

I feel your pain, and agree totally. It's a shame to let customer service go to hell just to save a buck.

What type of wireless? I have a Westell router on my DSL that sends a wireless signal to my other computers.

Did you fail to install a filer on a phone? There should be no real reason why you can not get wireless to work in a house unless you have concrete and steel walls!

Alot of wireless is near 2.4 frequency which is also close to cordless phones and microwaves.

I finally got through to Bell South and they sent out a tech today and will wave the charge. She was most helpful and knew what she was doing. She installed a Powerline adapter in the room the computer was in. This routed the DSL signal to the AC outlet. She put another adapter in the new location and connected the router to it. The router now sits about 12" above the computer and solved the problem.

Sooooo my wireless "distance" is about 12" and works well so far.
