New laptop, windows 7. Purchased the Home and Business Office 2010 Suite. Loaded all files, copied over the .pst outlook files, set up the new profile for outlook. Outlook worked great for 4 days. This morning when I went to open outlook I get an error message "Cannot Start Microsoft Outlook."

Have tried to repair outlook, no difference.

Tried the "Start>Start Search>outlook.exe /resetnavpanee" to no avail.

Tried to go to Control Panel and open Mail and create a new profile and I get a message there is not enough resources for that. WHAT???? 4Gig of memory isn't enough?

Tried several different virus scans to make sure a virus wasn't hogging all the resources. All clear.

Tried a scan disc and defrag just to make sure nothing was corrupted or any bad files. Did a memory test also ... all fine.

Still nothing. Only thing left is to re-copy the outlook.pst file and see what happens I guess. Any other suggestions before doing that?

Re: Computer Guru Question

Might be worth a check in control panel/addmin tools / event log to see what's going on and when

Re: Computer Guru Question

Check to see if it's outlook only.

Open word and excel and see if you have the same issue.

Might have to uninstall and reinstall.

I have office 2010 that was given to me by my work but havent installed it yet. I'm on Office 2007

Re: Computer Guru Question

No issues with the other Office suite programs ... ended up finding a place in the microsoft forums this appears to be a fairly common occurrance. Usually the fixes I already tried work, however, not so for me. I was really surprised when the uninstall/re-install didn't work. I eventually restored my computer to the last known time it worked, and presto, back in business. I just need to re-install a handful of programs that were installed since that time.

Re: Computer Guru Question

It did happen again ... apparently it was the much older version of Corel Office (Wordperfect Office 12) fighting with Office Suite. I have removed the Wordperfect Office suite and have ordered an newer version (x4) that should be compatible. Time will tell.
