flathead is trying to get into our chatroom and keeps having problems and thought maybe someone might have an answer.<br /><br />Here is what he has told me so far.<br /><br />"Spinner I signed up to yahoo and tried to chat. The thing is a screen<br />comes up that says to upgrade my VM on windows. I did just that but the<br />thing still says " cannot open applet" I am now very frustrated. This<br />computer is only a couple years old and never have I run into this type<br />of thing before.?????? What gives do you have a clue?? I dont."<br /><br />Any help appreciated.

Does he have the newer Internet Explorer browser versions? Older ones my not handle the vm install properly.<br /><br />If it is newer maybe the security settings for java, etc. may be goofed.<br /><br />Remove and re-install the browser if necessary<br /><br />Good luck.

Don't know marty, he just says it is just a couple years old.<br /><br />I sent him some stuff from help central to try but have not heard back from him.<br /><br />He may have blowed it up.

Hey SBN....do I have to load that VM to chat??? I been to the site a couple times and when I punch up chat....nobodies home.<br /><br />Signed....Chatless....

OK here is the deal, I have java enabled and have downloaded a whole sh!tload of updates. Still cant get on the chat. Do I need to enable the java console or the java logging?? I am stumped I am off to work and will try again later.

Security settings in IE. I have never dealt with this problem before, but have run into security problems that prevent stuff like this working. If you have a firewall, that could also be a problem. Drop your security level in IE temporarily. Also Windows XP has a firewall that you can invoke. Try disabling that. I cannot update my virus software on the companies secure site without disabling the XP firewall. Good luck
