If it was professional, look for pro10.msi. Either way it will a .msi file, so do a search for *.msi

If you don't find the .msi file, the executables are:

Word-winword.exe
Excel-excel.exe
Powerpoint-powerpnt.exe
Access-msaccess.exe
Front Page-frontpg.exe

You have that correct. It will not alter or delete any of your work.

If you can't find it, you'll need the Office cd and key to reinstall it.

If you go to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office , is there an Office10 folder?

Well, there might be an easier way....depending on how much data has been written to the hard drive since the 'accident'. You didn't mention if he un-installed the programor just deleted the program folder for the program.

Here's an option for now (and for future reference)
go here:
http://officerecovery.com/freeundelete/

Grab the free undelete utility (hopefully you can d/l to a thumb drive) Run it from the thumbdrive (it will expand itself to the same thumbdrive)
Run the undelete program, have it scan the C drive.
It will show all deleted files and folders and give you the chance to bring 'um back.

The reason for the thumb drive install is if you d/l the program to the C drive, the OS may overwrite the very files you're trying to recover......
