Re: Computer
Let's try again. Hit wrong button, lost long text.

If you mean you formatted the drive and reinstalled Win 98, then you probably have a hardware issue. Memory or processor. If not, then try formatting the hard drive to replace the boot files. Probably won't help, but I have seen a lto of odd things.

If unit has run 98 before, hardware issue likely if clean install. If not, then update your BIOS and have your chipset drivers from your motherboard manufacturer. While loading. I don't know if it gets that far.

Memory troubleshooting. Power off and unplug for 30 seconds. Ground yourself on case. Take some memory out. Not all. Try the load. If it still fails, swap the memory you took out and the stuff you had in. Try different sockets if you motherboard supports it. Some need to have memory in certain slots or unit will not run.

Processor troubleshooting is tough without a boot disk with diags. Since you don't have a computer it is hard to prepare now. If the computer is worth fixing, then go to a repair shop and have them run diags on the processor. If not, then maybe it is time to upgrade to a new computer and operating system, good Luck.
