Confused about horsepower

I recently took a look at an old kicker motor I've been storing. The cover on my 1983 Chrysler Sea King reads 15, but the model/serial number plate says "8 hp at **** rpm". How do I tell which it is for sure? It has two cylinders, if that helps.
Thanks,
Max

Maybe the hood has been changed.
I do not know if the hoods for Sea King made by Chrysler engines 8 and 15Hp had the same size of the hoods, cause these engines was not shipped to Europ?.

Chrysler engines 8, 9,9, 10 and 15Hp had same size of the hoods in the 70 and 80.es.

The tag is probably the right info.
They usually change the cover but not the ID tags.
So you probably have a 8hp with a 15 cover.
What other #s are on the tag??

OOOPS!
The tag is very worn, and I misread it. When I used a magnifying glass and bright light I can see the "15 HP at 5100 rpm"?the 1 is very faint, and the 5 looked like an 8.
Thanks much for your responses!
I'm having a problem with the starting pop-up gear, but will search other posts before asking questions about it
Thanks again,
Max
