Constant alarm

Ok so I finally got the motor to idle so today I got a nice drum and filled it up with water to run the motor in. I turn the key and constant alarm. I tried disconnecting the oil sensor and still alarm then I tried the temp sensor and still alarm. So I took apart the ignition and disconnected the tan wire and no more alarm so that tells me that the horn is good right? I checked the resistance on the temp sensor and it is .042 then I checked the oil sensor and it was 1. The way I checked the oil sensor was with the blue wire that is coming out of the cap. Is this correct? I thought that the alarm would go off if I disconnected that wire??

Re: Constant alarm

I read that thread as well as 10 other ones and It still doesn't make sense to me. What module is bad? The oil tank cap or some other module? I have disconnected tons of wires and the only time I can get the beeping to stop was when I took the throttle apart and disconnected a tan wire with a blue stripe. I even found another tan wire out side the throttle that was coming from the direction of the motor and when that was disconnected it did nothing. I also put some more oil in the tank on the motor and now I just have oil leaking out of the cap when the motor runs. I'm baffled? Everything was working so good 2 days ago?

Well you keep bumping your thread while blatantly disregarding the forum rules. First of all for anyone to help you, you need to provide much more information about what year and horsepower your engine is.

Second, there are many many threads on this topic. I suspect you have a bad oil warning module or your wire to the control is shorted to ground somewhere

Re: Constant alarm

Sorry I had a few other threads with the motor and just didn't think of putting it all in again. It is a merc 135 black max 1989. I did unplug the blue wire that comes out of the oil tank cap and I still have the steady beep. Could you maybe give me a few ideas that can go try to test some things out. Please
Thanks
Dave

Re: Constant alarm

Ok so I read 100 threads on this and. I think that I have a bad module but can't tell for sure. Is there any way to check and see if the oil pump is working? I am leaning towards removal of the injection system and just premixing. Is taking the pump off and putting one of those plugs in the best way to do it? Or should I leave the pump on and just remove the alarm module?

Re: Constant alarm

I can't help you with your alarm problem but the oil injection system in the mercs is very reliable. Far more so then the VRO on the OMC (now brp) motors of that age. The merc has an alarm for low oil in the reservoir. When your alarm is going off, is the oil reservoir full? It's the tank full of oil in your motor, its fairly small.
