I have a 1992 740 carburated volvo penta. I'm having a problem with the fuel pump running continuously as long as the battery is switched on. I've replaced the fuel pump relay and the ignition switch, but the problem persists. Any thoughts? Thanks!

In most cases is one of the diodes which have shorted out. Do you have the serial number for the motor?

I attached the engine serial number.
we opens the circuit breaker cover to get the part number of the relays. While doing so, we tapped a few times onto the relays with the handle of a screw driver. This in turn, after re activating the power back on, stoped the fuel pump from continue activation.
I’m assuming that it may be the relay so we order on that should be here Monday.
What are you thoughts?

BTW, that's a standard relay "automotive" type. Could take it to the local auto parts store and get one

Thank you for the heads up. Now, we did notice that once I turn the switch on, and the fuel pump starts, it seems that it spits out to much fuel to the carb.
it may be that the new fuel pump is high flow instead of low flow.
Just checking on that now.

High or low should not matter, what does matter is the amount of pressure the pump puts out
