Control box swap

I have a blown (dead) 1967 95hp controls. I got a 65ish 100hp Mercury but the control fitting doesn't match up with the 67 merc controls i have. Can I move the control plate where the wires connect to the motor from the 95hp to the 100hp?

I am sure it could be done, there might be some issues with making up a harness, but here is a site that has all the wiring diagrams you should need to figure it out.
