I have an 1989 Wellcraft with an Volvo I/O and Volvo DP-C drive. The control cable from the shifter/throttle to the outdrive drive was binding, so I am changing it. The old cable had a red casing and I think was made by Morse. The new cable is a Teleflex Extreme cable which is higher quality. However, I am having trouble getting the cable to thread through the tube and transom, even though I've replaced this cable before. The Teleflex Extreme cable seems to be a tiny bit beefier, so I am wondering if it is just too big. Has anyone else been able to get a Teleflex Extreme to work with a DP-C drive?

Put some dishwashing liquid in the tube. Will make it much easier to get through.

Thanks Bruceb! I was using teflon spray and couldn't get it to go all the way so I ended up removing the drive and going from the stern end. Not too bad since I needed to change ujoint boot anyway. Next time I will remember to connect the two cables then as I remove the original, it pulls the new into place.
