I have a 1975 70 hp, long shaft, mechanical shift, model 70573E.

The outer plastic sheath on my throttle cable was rubbing against my transom and has worn away, exposing the inner cable which is now rusting and sticking. I would like to replace both control cables, but I can't seem to find the cable part numbers in the parts catalog. Can someone point me in the right direction for the control cable part numbers? Or would I be better off going with aftermarket cables from Teleflex or someone else, and if so, again what part number do I need? The online literature for Teleflex only lists cables for OMC/Johnson/Evinrude from 1979 on.

Also, any specific advice or tips for easy and trouble-free replacement of the cables?

Thanks!

You want the ones for replacing the OMC/BRP 400 type cables. They do not come with cable ends. Readily available through Teleflex and BRP dealers...
