This is no doubt a dumb question but that’s never stopped me. I have acquired an older Larsen with a 2004 Mercury 50hp 4 stoke. I’ve never owned a board with cable controls for shift and throttle. It’s the single lever type. I see where the cable hook up on the engine. But I don’t know which is which. When I start pushing the shifter forward, which cable moves first, throttle or shifter?

To add, the shift cable is the only cable to move forward and backward from the center position, as the throttle handle is moved from neutral to forward and reverse.
