controls for 1990 140 johnson

hi everyone . i have a chance to buy a 1990 140 horsepower . what i need to know is will my controls and cables work on this motor from my 1986 140 horse johnson ? thankyou .

the both should have the big red plug on the wireing harness, the answer is yes.
