I have a 71 merc 500 that dosnt have spark. I have power to everything but ant get the spark plugs to fire. I was thinking of converting it to coil packs has anyone done this? Looking for advice.
No as crank and end caps different..that a simple system on your motor. Disconnect the all the wires on the blue terminal except the blue wire on terminal of switchbox, the retest with plugs removed
The controls I have for the boat didn't match up so we are wiring them in ourselves. We have everything hooked up right I think. It turns over but the spark issue.
Well perhaps every thing is not hooked up right. What were you using for a wiring diagragm? Are you using the correct ignition switch? Without the cowl supports in place to hold some of the parts it looks messier than it might normally.
