I have 1993 Merc 100 and was wondering what it takes to make it a 115 (carbs / exhaust plate / etc)? Can I rejet my existing carbs to get better performance?

Also, I have seen some info about how some 100's actually idle on just the top 2 cylinders, and all 4 don't light off until about 1500 rpm. Is this installed on my motor... how do I check?

The motor is on an 18' Bryant and it is a dog out of the hole. It has no problem reaching 5200rpm once on plane and it starts/idles great, but it takes forever to plane. The prop is a 3 blade, 19 pitch, 13" diameter.

Thanks for the feedback... Al

Re: Convert 100hp to 115hp

According to my information based on model year info, your engine is indeed a 2+2 (idle on top cylinders) engine. as far as making it into a 115, I don't have any info on that. I do know that the factory doesn't recommend changes of that nature. I called once and was told that there is no info like that available.
