I have a 1992 Johnson 9.9 HP. I have been told by several people that I can convert it to a 15 HP by simply changing the carb jets? Is this all there is to it, or do I need to change the entire carb. What about exhaust and plugs etc?

thanks

If that motor is the same as a 94 it will cost around 800-900 dollars to convert it. In my opinion it ain't worth it. I forget what all had to be changed. Carbs, exhaust and maybe reeds.

That "jets" myth has been around since the 50s, at least, Ozzie. All it would do is give you a very bad running gas hog of a 9.9.

It would be cheaper to swap the 9.9 for a 15, but even then you would be disappointed. It won't go 50% faster.

Good luck, and welcome to iboats. :)
