i resently bought a 10 hp sportwin (not shore about the year but i guess 1956-58) and want to convert it because its a
huge problem to find an old pressuretank in god condition......

i dont really know what to search after but i want to convert my engine from pressure system to modern system with fuelpump an read in a other tread vhere they used briggs and stratton fuelpump the question is from vhat engine should i take the fuelpump

and exaktly what does i have to modify is it just bolt on a fuelpump connect the fuelline from tank to intake and a fuel line from output to the original intake and then the pressure line to the pump insted of to the pressuretank or is anything else i have to modify

hope someone kan uderstand my poor english and have som answers

Nahhh, you did just fine. I can understand you. I think it would be much simpler for you to buy a fuel pump and bypass cover, from a 1960 model Sportwin and mount it up. No modifications, and it's a very simple, factory conversion. Sure there are lots of Mikuni fuel pumps out there and people like them, but I think the factory set up, is much simpler and much less modification to do.

Hi darkien,

Here is an article describing such a modification: http://www.leeroysramblings.com/Converting_dual_fuel_line.htm

On the same web site, here are some more useful tips: http://www.leeroysramblings.com/#12_OB

that was nice reading thanx man

its seems easy to convert s? now the search of parts begins and a convertion is gonna be done under the winter when i strip down the engine an going to replace old gaskets etc and repaint most of the parts anyway because its in poor condition right now but it was cheep and will fit perfecly on my old 60:is mopres motorboat that is under renovation

hi,oledan here.
i also have a 1956 sportwin 10.to convert it to a modern well working outboard.i simply put an electric fuel pump on it.ran a toggle switch to the pump from my battery and done.i think the maximum pressure from the fuel pump is 7 gph.i use this thing alot too.i fish alot at night so i needed a battery for lights anyway.and i seen the same little pump on ebay for 30.00 bucks i think.

Electric fuel pumps are usually not recommended for these old, non-computer controlled two strokes. There is no (easy reliable) way to shut the pump off in case of a stuck float (happens often), split hose, etc. The pump can fill the cowl up with gas pretty quickly.
Just because something works under perfect conditions doesn't mean it's a real great idea....which is one reason they got rid of the pressurized tanks in the first place.

Yikes, sounds like a dangerous situation waiting to happen. I wouldnt do it, nor would I reccomend it. Under the right conditions, its a firebomb waiting to happen.
