I'm considering converting to electric start on my 1978 15hp. I don't need electric start but want to charge batt. and/or run lights. I've seen some posts about it before but want to ask more specific. One of the POs already put a starter on it. I have the neutral safety switch in tact but the push button start was trashed. Again, not so interested in starting but more charging. On that note, would it charge or replace juice with short runs then fishing? I know I need the rectifier but do "I need" the terminal block? Do I need the fly wheel? Is that just for the gear teeth or the magnets? As stated, it already has a starter. Now to the magneto. There is one on ebay now and the difference appears to be two extra coils. I can't make much of the diagram on Shop2Evinrude. Number 41 merely states "Stator assembly" and looks nothing like anything I've seen before. Never-the-less, I suppose that magneto plate and components are essential. I hope some folks with better knowledge can clear me up!P1010042.jpgebay elec start mag plate.jpg
