Converting 3gp to AVI/WMA

When I try to play videos off my phone on my computer the video is fine, but there is no audio. My understanding is I can either install a CODEC to enable windows media player to play 3gp properly or convert the offending files to AVI or WMA.

I don't want to install a CODEC because if I make a edited home video out of them, then fire the video off to poor old mom, her computer won't play them either without her installing codec's and such. I'd rather just convert.

I've googled 3gp converter and a bunch come up, I'm leary of installing freeware. I've got a newer clean computer and would hate to install something thats gonna cause problems. Does anyone have any trusted programs they use?

Hi Bill. I'm no expert but VLC is a good media player that plays most file types.
I've downloaded this many times and never had an issue so I'd say it's worth a try.
Highly recommended from an expert pal of mine.

Or you can just upload them to youtube as private and then email her the link. You can also get a youtube ripper and rip them off in whatever format you want
