I have a 99 year mercruiser 4.3L 190hp alpha one.
Does any one know of a conversion kit to fuel injection?
obviously the main engine is the same all you need is the ecu, manifold, injectors and loom?
i would like to get to 210 hp that the MPI delivers.
Thanks.

Haven't heard anything good about the aftermarket setups, except for the Holley Projection series.
They have both TBI and MPI
Holley Fuel Injection

dont be so sure.

what about a fuel pump? And maybe a new fuel tank too? I can see this swap adding up to almost what it would cost to put in a carbed 350.

Ayuh,...... It's not a very Practical upgrade.........

Your Chioces are Retrofitting a Mercruiser System..........
Or,
Being a "Motorhead",+ Building Your Own System out of Other off the shelf parts.............

Even the Holley Systems aren't quite Plug & Play............

Re: Converting 4.3L to 4.3MPI

I sold Mariah's for 10 years and most of 'em with 4.3s (either 4 barrels prior to Vortec, and 2 barrells after Vortec) Vortec was a mid-year change in late '96 or '97, if I remember correctly!. Talking about 18 ft models. Anyway, the best "bang for the buck" is to invest in an excellent stainless prop. Will cost you about 500 to 600 dollars. I can think of no-one who would spend the dollars to "up-grade" from a four barrell to the mpi "just" to get more "horsepower" (but not cubic inches). Spend the dollars on a high 5 prop and the rest on your wife and kids!!

I had a 4.3 with a 4-barrel that was rated at 210Hp. If yours is a 2-, that upgrade would probably cost alot less. I'm not sure MPI is available for a 4.3. I think only Throttle Body EFI is. I'm not all the impressed with GM MPI anyhow. It's not sequential. :(

Willy, look at the Holley link I gave above, they do have MPI for the 4.3's.
