Converting 50 ELPTO to Bigfoot - Doable?

Hey' Guys - I have an on-going forum under the pontoons about an on-going cavitation problem I'm battling (titled Cavitation - end of my (bleeping) rope). I currently have a 2008 Mercury 50 Horse 2-Stroke, non-Bigfoot on a 2008 Sun Tracker Party Barge. I am getting a lot of encouragement to upgrade to the Bigfoot model, but am not interested in paying the money at this time. It's my understanding that there is a 2-Stroke Bigfoot available - is there any chance that I could order a Bigfoot "bottom" for my existing 50 HP ELPTO and convert it from what it is now to a Bigfoot? The different gears and prop capabilities should go a long way towards fixing my problems.

Suggestions/ideas/comments?

Thanks!

Re: Converting 50 ELPTO to Bigfoot - Doable?

:):)I know I'm a little late on this thread, but I just thought I'd share my issues with Tracker.
I bought a 2005 Sun Tracker 21 party barge last year with the exact same motor and have the exact same problem you have so painfully described.
I've just learned to live with it as we usually just putt around anyway and never in a real hurry out on the lakes.

With all of the issues you've described I think it must be a design flaw in the transom and/or a mismatched motor. I don't think you would ever get Tracker to admit to this though.

I'm too cheap to buy a new motor. I'll let the next owner worry about it :)
