Converting Alpha1 gen1 speedo to Bravo style?

So, I know the Bravo drives have the pitot mounted to the cavitation plate, which gives it protection from things. I have the old Alpha one style, which is just the cheapo pitot on the transom, that breaks itself if I hit something. I really don't want to keep replacing the pitot all the damn time(yea yea, don't hit stuff with it).<br /><br />So I was wondering if it is possible to convert it to mount on the outdrive like the Bravos. Any thoughts, comments on it?

The late model Bravos,+ the Alpha GenIIs have it Cast Into the Housing,........<br />And,... It's in the Leading Edge of the drive,... Nothing to do with the Cav. Plate......<br /><br />No,... There is No converting it.......<br /><br />As you already stated,....... Quit running Into Stuff,+ it's a Non-Issue...........

They're overrated anyhow. They clog rather easily. Besides, that pickup is a good foot lower than the transom mounted device. How do you keep hitting things with it without ripping the drive off the back? You'd have to be running in inches of water, which a sterndrive can't do.

I really don't know. But when I got the boat, the pitot that was on there was junk. It would keep flopping up. So I replaced it, and my new one looks like it got hit, because it flipped up and broke the hose nipple off.<br /><br />Leads me to the conclusion that I've hit something.<br /><br />Oh, and what is the braided stainless tube that run to the back of the cavitation plate then?

Without a photo,... It's Hard to Say......<br /><br />Your drive Didn't come with 1......<br />Unless you're confused,+ are refering to the Hyd. Trim Lines.............<br /><br />Or,... Possibly someone has Added a drive shower,.???...
