Converting hydraulic trim sender to gimbal mounted trim sender

I currently have the old old style transom mounted trim sender thats hooked up to the trim hydraulics. The new setup thats installed right now has an alpha one gimbal ring with the earmuff trim sender and limit switch.

My question is can i just snip the wires off the old sender and splice to the new sender or is there some difference in the gauges themselves ?

Ayuh,.... I believe the gauges interchange, no problem,....

Thanks bondo it does work with the original gauge . Is there any benefit to removing the hydraulic sender cylinder or is it ok to leave it in the fluid circuit?

Personally, I'd remove it. It's just dead weight you're carrying around...
