Converting Seadrive to and Outboard

I have a 1987 20ft Starcraft Center Consul with an OMC 115 Seadrive. The engine does not work any more and I need to replace it. So my question is what is the cheapest way to convert the seadrive to an outboard? I know about the brackets such as the Gill, B Bracket or Armstrong, but those I have found all to be pretty expensive.
I have tried to sell the boat for $3200.00, but I have no takers, so i am stuck with fixing it.

Can I just remove the engine from the seadrive unit and attach another engine?
Is their a cheap bracket available out there?
Can I just cut the transom to make it look like a standard outboard transom?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

What is wrong with the OMC? (other than it is an OMC) I would just fix that or convert it to mercruiser.

New powerhead?

http://www.hinklemarine.com/powerheads.php?hsp=P4&make=OMC

OR you could build yourself a jacking plate and mount whatever outboard you wanted but would have to do some work for the steering and controls for the new motor... how handy are you?

Found this for ya... this guy did the conversion from seadrive to OB... with a jacking plate like I said above!

It needs a new power head. And the compression wasn't the greatest when I bought it.

I checked out the powerhead site and i can almost buy a new (used) engine for that price. I found multiple 115 HP (2000-2004) engines for 3000.00 or less
