converting short to long shaft

recently bought a lower case long shaft to change out into my short shaft 15 HP 'rude'. Pics are included. Bought this on ebay and am a novice at this. Don't know if I am going to need more parts or not. As you can see from the pics the shift rod is visible...but nothing else (other than the gear shaft). I have read that there is some extensions needed...i.e. water and ???

Appreciate some help as i haven't done this before and am worried about screwing up.
