toured the naval observatory today for the first time with our wardroom. not a bad deal. you should see the clock that for all practical purposes keeps the world's time. my laptop is more impressive looking. checked out a real old telescope in a huge silo. built in the early 1800's. we then got a nice tour of the v.p. residence- grounds, house, his new kitchen, pool, etc. a member of our wardroom runs the whole show there (we have some cool jobs in the navy).

I'll bet there are folks here that don't know that the Naval Observatory is where the Vice President's official residence is, Mattttt.

Visited there once, when HHH (Hubert H. Humphrey, the liberal's liberal) lived there. Really cool place.

It was only a few years ago that the US Naval Academy gave up its dairy farm. Now that was an anachronism.

Jinx

jinx, don't understand that word. but yes, the naval academy did and still owns their own dairy farm. we currently lease the farm to a commercial venture, and do not get our milk from there.

aint much JB doesnt know about, lol

I guess people run when he breaks out Trivial Pursuit

anachronism means out of step with time, incongruity - like that atomic clock that can keep time accurate to a second in 20 billion years right next to a cow bell and a milking stool.
