How do you determine when it's time to replace the CF3 module? Looking in through the water inlet/outlet holes, I see corrosion in there but without seeing what a new module looks like, hard to determine the level of blockage.
Does the water jacket/passages in the module surround the two fuel bowls like a water jacket surrounds an engine cylinder?
I just went through tearing the module down to clean out any delaminated paint and now after taking a closer look at the water ports....not sure how make a proper assessment.

Now that the pic uploads are working, I'll try to get some pics up.

The CF3 is just the next generation to help stop vapor lock and in this case make more money for Merc

The reason I say to make more money is for the same motor but one which has the Alpha drive, Merc still installs the Gen 2 and spin on fuel filter. Both designs produce 43 psi, just the Gen 3 has expensive filters.

The water channels are to help keep the fuel cooler. Yes the raw water is circulated around the housing. If it gets clogged up there most likely will have more heat, and with more heat it "might" cause a greater chance for vapor lock.
