That might be a good place to Start.........

While you have everything apart, Flush out All the passages.....
Disconnect the Incoming waterline from the T-stat housing,+ Flush back to the Impeller pump........
That'll help guarantee that the motors Getting it's water........

If that doesn't cure it,
It's on to the T-stat, waterpump, manifolds, or riser................

Re: cooling problem

Also check the exhaust riser. if the passages are plugged up, even the best pump can't pump enough water through it to cool.

and the water pocket cover in the leg.if it's had an overheat that'll be distorted and be allowing exhaust gas into the cooling water.

Re: cooling problem

In addition to the above (great advice),raise the drive and take a look at the water hose where it connects to the gimbal housing (make sure it's not cracked and leaking). Also remember that a good impeller is a very tight fit inside of the housing. I usually have to coat the housing or impeller blades with dish washing liquid just to lubricate it enough to get it to slide into the housing. If this doesn't sound like your impeller....replace it.
