cooling question, 1997 Johnson 50 SPL

Good morning all! This is my first post and probably a rather dumb question,
Is water supposed to be coming out the pee hole when the engine has just been started and still warming up? As is the thermostat would still be closed. It was running to 3-5mins being cooled by ear muffs.
Also, how long on average would it take to the thermostat to open?

Water comes out of the pee hole as soon as the engine starts; if it doesn't run some weedeater line up the hole and see if a bug has stopped it up. Good luck.
