I just rebuilt the fuel pump and while testing with muffs on the cooling intake noticed that I did not seem to have a steady stream of water coming from the discharge. how much should be expelled at idle? I have been runing the engine for the past month (lenght of time owning it) and have only had one time that it overheated. should I check and replace the water pump or is it usual to only have a little water expelled at idle?

I would go ahead and replace that impeller. Sounds like its not pumping enough water at idle
causing your heating prob. You dealt should get a little spray out the pee hole and alot out of exhaust at the prop. Its a cheap fix and will save your motor in the long run.

a lot of motors not only chrysler /force dont cool very well on muffs.. the pump does not seem to be able to grab enough water .....so you cannot be sure unless its in a barrel or the lake...With a new impeller note how far your pisser pisses and if it starts to drop off get a new impeller ( or see a doctor !!! )
