Hello,<br /> I just replaced the impeller in the water pump; however when I got the motor back together it doesn't seem to be working. There is not any water just shooting out or even coming out of the two pisser holes. There is air being pushed out the pisser holes though just no water???? Help please... Also the Manual said something about the cooling system having a thermostat. If so do I have to wait to check after several minutes. THe motor is a 1976 85 hp Johnson.

Are you sure you got the copper water tube back in place in the grommets? How about the key for the impeller?

I have the exact same problem on my johnson. I get only motor exhaust out the two holes. If i put my fingers over the two holes the air bubbler out the prop. Do you think the motor ever overheated?

I did get the key in; however I'm not sure about the copper tubes there wasn't much room to see them. Do they pull down any so you can make sure they are on or is it just kind of like a hit or miss???

Hit and miss. Just have to look real close and feel your way around. If your not getting any water shooting out at all, that's probably it. It's a pain in the ***.

You don't say in your post, and its probably a long shot, but how are you supplying the water? Are you using muffs, a barrel of water, or did you launch the boat. My point is to make sure that you've got the water supply right.

Ok I took the lower unit off again and tried getting the copper tubes in. They where bent up so I straightened them the best I could. When I put it back together there seems to be a fine mist coming out the pisser holes now. Should it be streaming or just misting out. Also my manual talks about a thermostat on the cooling system. Could maybe the thermostat has not kick on yet be the reason there is not any water streaming out of the pisser holes??
