I'v got a late 70's 9.9 Evinride. Changed the water pump yesterday and while it was apart I tried blowing up the copper tube and its blocked. I'm assuming it shouldnt be restricted and am thinking I should look at the thermostat maybe. But I dont know where it is or if its the trouble. Any ideas?

Is the lower unit still off? If it is, rig up a garden hose to the copper pipe that you can't blow through, remove the t-stat cover and t-stat which is on the upper part of the head just over the top plug, and see if you can blast some water through it. Sometimes you can work a length of weed whacker line through the water jacket a little ways and you may loosen the blockage that way. Check the pee hole for mud blockage. Sometimes wasps will plug that up with mud, but, you should be able to get water through the motor even if it's got mud.

OK, I got the thermostat out & poured water into the housing. It flowed freely out both the pee hole & the lower unit. I'm thinking it might have gotten cleared by doing that. I'd like to replace the thermostat & O-ring. Is there a good online distributor for this stuff?
