cooling tuneup question

whats the best way to do a engine cooling tuneup,i am certain i have scale buildup on my port motor,dont wantta remove the heads unless i have to.anyone who has used a cemical ,i would like to know how you did it.or should i just bite the bullet and pull the heads.i did change the stats and water pump already.

Try using salt away. Its a good salt neutralizerer. West marine has it. It's expensive but cheap compared to the alternative.Read the directions on the container. I would try and run salt away for at least 5 minutes through the engine, and before shutting the engine off block all water outlets somehow and let the salt away sit in the engine for a day. Then rune it again using only water, and then again with salt away. It may take several treatments but it has a good chance of working. Good luck.

if you found gel in the t-stats you need to clean the heads
