I'm totally new to this so don't even know where the cooling water should be exiting my motor. should the water be flowing from the exhaust port or that little hole above on the rear of the motor? I have seen a 9.9 hp Yamaha outboard where the water spurted from the starboard side but cannot see an appropriate port for cooling water on mine... Also, the very poorly photo copied manual I was given with the boat shows a water inlet on the side of the structure, slightly above the prop, but the only inlet I have found is beneath the anti-cavitation plate and this is not obstructed. The motor is fitted to a Norman 20 boat used exclusively on the British canal system - no salt - and I have done several miles at the slow speed required on the canals without any problems; is this wise? Any help with this problem would be appreciated.
