Cooling water temp.

I have installed a temp. gauge at my Evinrude 60HP, VRO from 1990. So I can read what the temp. is.<br />But what is normal operation temp. I should read at my temp. gauge ?<br />And what is normal open/close temp. the thermostat is working at ?

Kin,<br /><br />I beleive the t'stat should open somewhere around 140, your operating temp will vary depending on rpms, the higher the rpms the cooler it will run, aat or close to idle is when the highest temp would be expected. I think anything higher than 160 will be in the overheating range but you'll have to check your manual to find what operating ranges are

Tanks MCM<br /><br />140F = 78C<br />160F = 90C<br /><br />At High speed, I can read 70C, and at idle I can read apx. 85C. So it seems the system is working 100%.<br />Thanks again.
