Where is the real pro when you need him? Yacht Dr is the man when it comes to core advice...... have not heard from him in some time and I considered him VERY sharp :(

That method of core repair would be kind of a Band-Aid fix, it may work short term, but long term its not a solution. Wet core is wet core, its not going to dry out in the next year or so even with help, plus the wet wood or balsa has already started to rot and it won't stop even if its sealed off.

Highly diluted epoxies have little strength or water resistance when hard and they won't get all that hard either.

seems to me after the wood turns to mush there aint much you can do but replace it.

There are products available that will turn dry rot into rock hard wood but its better suited for restoring antiques and prehistoric artifacts.
Cyanoacrylate works very well on wet wood but its not usefull in a boat.
