Hello all,

I'm having some touble finding the correct dust cap size for my trailer. Specs are as follows:

- Factory trailer for a 1989 Bass Tracker Tournament 16
- #84 Spindle (L44649 outer bearing, L68149 inner bearing)

My bearings blew out on a recent trip, and I replaced the bearing kit. I lost the original dust cap when the bearings blew out going down the road, and I haven't been able to find the correct size. The above specs are correct according to the receipt for the new bearing kit. I thought the correct size would be 1.98, but I've bought the 1.98" caps and they're too small (by maybe 1/10th of an inch?). I'm new to boats/trailers and I'm by no means an expert on these things. Is there something that I'm missing? Any advice is much appreciated!

Re: Correct Dust Cap Size?

I can definately just measure the existing cap sometime, but I keep my boat about an hour away from where I live. When I went to replace the cap with what I thought was the correct size (1.98), I didn't think about just pulling the old cap. I'm just hoping I can save some time by posting here from home and maybe someone knows something obvious that I'm getting wrong. Thanks for the reply!

The 1.98 dust cap is for 1 inch spindle bearings. The next STANDARD size up is 1 1/16 spindle. Based on your saying the 1.98 is about 1/10 inch too small, it sounds like your hubs use dust caps for 1 1/16 spindles.

Having seen this a couple times on Tracker marine trailers from the 80's, I can say that they have used some not so easy to find parts.

You may need
2.047 or 2.080

Thanks for the replys guys. It sounds like the 2.080 or 2.047 is what I need. After doing a quick search on the internet, I do see that they may be harder to find. The only thing I can find in a 2.080 are bearing buddies. Does anyone know of a source for EZ-lube style caps this size?
