I have 1995 merc 4.3 with 2 piece elbow exhaust manifold that i need flappers for. Here's the thing , I've read several discussions and the sticky, but am still not 100% which ones are correct. I have the 2 piece elbow /manifold with the one piece batwing exhaust, see pics. I don't know if this is original or upgraded. Can anyone tell by the pics what i have and need. Couldn't find any numbers on the batwing pipes. My engines a replacement(1998) so thats no help.

Only fits Y pipe used with original 1 piece exhaust manifold.
IF you have converted to the two piece manifold and your application had the 1 piece originally this is the shutter you need.

^ That info mentioned, Being you have an 1995 boat, the Exhaust Manifold(One Piece) Exhaust System(Use With One Piece Manifold) system was used between 1996 -1998ish...
Exhaust System(Use With Two Piece Manifold)

Did you for sure have a 1 Piece system that went to a 2 Piece system at some point of time as you the owner?

Maybe having all 3 (or 4?) of you serial numbers to the engine, drive, transom assembly may help some here too....(Old engine too for 4th)...

NO. It is NOT for sure originally the one piece riser/elbow, manifold. I dont know if it was originally a one piece elbow /riser manifold. All i know is it is now and may have been from factory a 2 piece riser elbow/ manifold with one piece batwing pipe. I dont have old engine number(although maybe on title, now that i think of it ).
Herein lies the question.

im thinking since the holes are round its these?

$49.95

  • Part #: BPI89170

Add to Cart:

Exhaust Water Shutter Flapper for 4 Inch Y pipe used on Mercruiser.

Fits into the "Y" Pipe on most V-6 & V-8 engines to help prevent water from backing into the manifold and engine
swivel design and is sold in pairs

If your flapper currently has round grommets that hold it in, and a 4 inch Y-Pipe, then this is the correct flapper
If your current flapper is held in with squaregrommets, then you can remove the round exhaust ring and use the included grommets.
  • Does Not Fit 4.3 Engines Originally Equipped with the 1 Piece Exhaust Manifold

Yes this would be the correct one to buy as you do have the round design in the Y-Pipe after re-looking over the photos better/closer....Sometimes when the hole starts to wear out it can form a different view perspective which i thought I seeing a square design on one side...But upon thinking back, 'The square design generally has a cut-out slot at the top/tip of the Y-pipe so I was trying to make sure you didn't seem to have anything different going on there was all or if maybe you had a 1 piece into 2 kit like this on the left, https://bpi.ebasicpower.com/shop/in..._in_description=1&categories_id=&inc_subcat=1 .

Hope this helped some, Good luck.
