I tried searching, as I am sure this has been covered before, but had no luck. So here goes. What is the correct lower unit oil for a 1993 Evinrude 200 outboard? Also, how much should it hold? Thanks.

Re: Correct Lower Unit Oil

There is no specific oil for that as in oil or 93 200 Evinrude, all newer outboards use Lower Unit Oil, there are different brands and some synthetic kinds but lower oil is lower oil.

I get mine at an Oreillys on the way home, as long as it says lower unit oil you are fine.

There are 2 flat head screws on the lower, put the new oil in the bottom hole till it comes out the top hole and it is full, I am sure there is some measured amount but that is the easiest way to do it, once the oil comes out he top hile put the plug in the top hole then replace the bottom one, someoil will run out before you get the plug in but that is fine.

Buy two quarts of any Marine gear oil for mechanical shift outboards and a pump to make changing it easy. The gearcase will take just about a quart.
