Took a ride yesterday on a friend's 22' Four Winns. 1992 appox, OMC, not sure the HSP. Possibly 7.4L. Anyway, Oil pressure was 60-80 psi. I understand Mercs are around 35-40, I am not familiar with the OMC product. Checked the dipstick and oil volume looked fine. Boat ran fine. Isn't that 60-80psi high?

Re: Correct Oil Pressure on an OMC?

Merc.,+ OMC Both run the Same Chevy Motors,......

Chevy motors are very comfortable with Oil Pressure of 10psi.s per 1000rpms,... Or More.......

So,....... At WOT,.. Oil Pressure should be about 45psi, or Higher,....60/ 80 is on the High end, but Fine....
Once the Oil heats up it'll probably drop alittle anyway......

High oil pressure?

1) High oil level (you've checked this).
2) Wrong viscosity oil.
3) Inaccurate gauge or pressure sensor.
4) Obstruction in oil passages.

If this is a worry, I'd suggest an oil/filter change and make sure the proper viscosity oil is used on the refill.

When you check the oil level, be sure the dipstick is fully seated in the port. (I've seen this mistake before)
